Fun Ranch Partners With Oli’s Boxship To Promote Creative Play

Remember the days of creative play, when sticks would double up as swords, or be used as magic wands?  When boxes could be piled up to form buildings and skyscrapers could be built from building bricks?

Fun Ranch values creative play and tries to incorporate imagination-building activities in its playgrounds, through the use of tunnels, hanging bridges, and pretend-play houses.  Now Fun Ranch takes the wonder a step further by joining forces with Oli’s Boxship.  Oli’s Boxship provides creative craft-based boxed activities, by subscription, to help continue building children’s imaginations, even at home.  Every subscription will entitle each child to receive one surprise boxed activity per month, where he can build, learn, and play at home, for an entire year.

Learn more about Oli’s Boxship when you join this year’s Fun Ranch Egg-Citing Easter Weekend on Easter Sunday!  You may also check @olisboxship on social media.

10 Reasons Why It’s Cool To Play Pinoy Games

By Ana del Rosario

Summer is fun!  With no school work and grades to worry about, it is the season where kids enjoy playing outdoors.  I remember those times when my neighbors and I would be out of our homes by 3:00 p.m. and form groups to play Patintero.  It was girls vs. boys and the line would go as long as 20 meters.  The word “gadget”, that time, was unheard of.

Childhood memories came back last Saturday with Fun Ranch’s Larolympics.   The passion of parents to teach their children games we all grew up with like Tumbang Preso, Piko and Sipa put smiles on our faces.  It was a warm day, we were all sweaty but laughing our hearts out.  In spite of the heat, we still found it cool to play Pinoy games on a sunny day!  Here’s why:

DSC_0832

1.  We had an awesome time exercising.  The “it” during Tumbang Preso was so competitive that kids and their parents ran as fast as they could to score a point.

DSC_0835

2.  “Agawang Panyo” was played like a basketball,  with steals and unexpected passes.  Everyone learned how to strategize.

3.  Family teamwork was very much alive during Patintero.

4.  Players gained a new skill and it’s called Sipa.

DSC_0816

5.  There’s physical bonding because families held each other, jumped up and down, hugged and kissed.

6. Parents demonstrated true sportsmanship and kids learned from their example.

DSC_0851

7.  Waiting for the right time to enter the line during Patintero helped children increase their attention span.

8.  Sweat built our immunity.

9.  Piko taught the kids to listen, follow instructions and figure things out while parents cheered on the side.

DSC_0812

10.  Someone once said, laughter is the best medicine.  Giggles, cheers and laughter filled Fun Ranch that day.

As mentioned during the teams’ orientation, Larolympics is my favorite event because it leaves good memories to all participants.  From mascots joining the games to winning awards, we always end this event in high spirits.

Thank you Pepsi and Lactacyd Toddler Tubs for co-presenting Larolympics.  Thumbs up to Island Cove Hotel and Leisure Park and Champs Chewable Vitamins for Kids for our prizes and to Gatorade and Premier Water for keeping us hydrated that day.

Top 5 Kiddie Party Trends (as of February 2015)

Kiddie parties also have trends, just like clothes, shoes and bags do. Since last year, we’ve noticed that the trend is shifting from modern to vintage and handcrafted. Hence, we’re coming out with this list, our top 5 trends, to update and guide parents who are planning a birthday bash for their li’l ones.

1. Crafted Animal Balloons. Use your imagination to spice up your balloons! And we are not talking about balloon twisting, Mylar or sculpture, but characters that you can create by drawing body parts on a piece of paper, cutting and sticking those parts on your balloons. The rawness will make it unique and full of love!

2. Handcrafted Table Centerpieces. Why we love this? Handcrafted table centerpieces can work with or without balloons. You can also get creative and use them as containers for candies or any munchies for your guests while waiting for the program to start.

3. Fondant Birthday Cake. Gone are the days when we only enjoy Fondant Cakes during weddings and debuts. A number of parents now opt to have Fondant on their cake table because it “provides a greater range for decoration. With fondant, it is possible to attain a more refined and precise creation” (source: http://www.heatherbarranco.com).

4. Giant 3D Letters. The star of any birthday party is the birthday celebrator. Guests will definitely remember his name and his party.

5. Food Carts. While we grew up with the old fashioned Cotton Candy, Ice Cream and Pop Corn carts, more and more food and beverage are being served and presented in children’s parties on a food cart. Even our well-loved street food Taho and Fish Balls are now part of the growing list.
